Archeology

Since the publication of the Book of Mormon, there have been claims that no archaeological evidence supports its authenticity. While it is unlikely that future archaeological discoveries will prove the Book of Mormon to be true, there will also always be insufficient evidence to prove it false. Currently, there are two prevailing theories on the geography of Book of Mormon lands: the Mesoamerican theory, which suggests that archaeological evidence may be found in Central and South America, and the Heartland theory, which proposes that evidence may be found in North America. The Church has not taken an official stance on the geographical location of Book of Mormon lands
